Molecular evolution and retroviruses are the central interest of our laboratory. Our activity is developed around the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the agent responsible for the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Two research axes are developed, both involving the genetic flexibility of this virus. One topic deals with the study of coevolution networks in HIV, while the second concerns the development of an original system of evolution of cellular genes, driven by HIV-derived vectors. Therefore, in one case, HIV genetic diversity is the object of our studies and, in the other, rather constitutes a biotechnological tool.
